Do I sell Tamron 17-35 and Sigma 10-20 to buy a Canon 17-55 or.....

Hi All,

Im having a bit of a dilema here!

I own a Tamron 17-35 and a Sigma 10-20, I find the sigma great fun but a little lacking in reach at times, and the Tamron I find great for an all in one lens, but again lacking a bit of reach!

If you were me which of the following would you do?

1) Keep them both and dont change a thing!

2) Sell them both and buy a Canon 17-55 2.8 IS with the money

3) Keep the Sigma 10-20, sell the Tamron 17-35 and buy a Tamron 17-50

Im confused so thought I would ask some opinions.....

The problem with selling the 10-20 is you'll not have anything wide enough then !!!

I'd be tempted to sell the 17-35 if you feel you need the extra length

I suppose the real question is how often do you feel you need the 35-55 range ?

Thanks for the response! I think I would miss the 10-20 but I don't use it loads...

The thing is I only really use the 17-35 when I want an all in one walk about and I do find myself wanting the extra zoom.

I guess I was only considering the canon 17-55 as I've heard it's as good as an "L" and I love my canon 70-200 F4L it always blows me away....

I'd be looking at the 17-50 then, can't help with if the Tamron 17-50 is as good as your 17-35 though. Heard very good things about the Canon 17-55 but it does carry a price tag

If I was to get the canon 17-55 I would defiantly have to sell both lenses as I cannot afford it otherwise!

Is the 17-35 supposed to be better than the 17-50 then?

I just want the extra each and the constant 2.8 could be really handy!

I've just bought a 50mm 1.8 though so I suppose between that and the 17-35 I would nearly cover the 17-50??

Well, why not see how you get on with the 50mm and if possible try out a Tamron 17-50 at some point.

Buy some manual focus lenses such as Samyang or Rokinnon, they have some primes very good quality such as 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.4, and i think 100mm, or buy Canon 100 f2 or 135 f2L if you want reach, i really hate the situation where you sacrifice one or 2 lenses in favor of one and then you lose a FL range then you want to buy another lenses again to cover when you were covered before, so if you can wait longer to save and buy another longer lens without selling what you have already, if that Tamron 17-35 is only for a crop body then i prefer you sell both lenses and buy Canon 17-40L for future FF or pro body and then Sigma or Tamron 24-70equiv. lens if you want to save bucks.

For me, it is a must i cover 3 FL range if i can, 15/16-40, 40-80, 80-200, so for those ranges i have my best top 3 favorite zoom lenses: 16-35L, 24-70L, 70-200L, those 3 lenses saved me for years and years and i never need another lenses for 2.8 situations, low light and macro and architecture are another stories.
