My class has been asked to start thinking of ideas for a unit 3 A2 photography project. For those who do not know, this is a unit where we have to write our own brief and investigate a chosen topic.

I came up with many ideas which included one I think would make a brilliant project. Documentary photography, mainly focusing on the life of the homeless.

As the life and feelings of the homeless are something many of us know very little about, I thought I could create some very interesting images by putting myself in their shoes for a few days and documenting the experience through a series of images.

Looking a peoples expressions and attitudes towards the homeless as well as their general way of life was my main idea.

What do people think of this? Is there any artists people can direct me to that may be of interest? What are the changes of me being stabbed?

I think you need to explain in a bit more depth. Are you planning on pretending to be homeless by living rough for a time and photographing peoples reaction to you? Do you intend to interview homeless people? What view point will you take? Rob

The idea I had would require me to sleep rough for a couple of days and photograph peoples reactions as you just said.

Had an idea to see if I could set a camera up in a local shop, and trigger it with a remote as people walk past, to capture there facial expressions and attitudes towards me.

Sounds interesting, you could also superclamp the camera up a lamp post or better still have it hidden in a cardboard box or similar on the ground next to you with a wa lens to give more of a view of what the homeless person would see....

Sounds an interesting idea, perhaps take some precautions, have a mobile to hand, let people know where you will be, perhaps take a friend along to keep an eye on you. Make sure you don't let yourself open to abuse, oh and post the results here for us. Rob
