Does a Canon 350D battery door fit a 400D?

Hi,

As my used 400D didn't come with a battery door (as it has a battery grip) I've looked on the bay to find a suitable replacement.

I can only find silver doors for the 400D, but there are some black ones for the 350D.

I noticed on an American listing that they had doors listed for both, but that might be a listing error.

Can anyone confirm if they are the same fit?

Also, should the camera work with a battery in and the door off?

unfortunately not, do you mean alongside the "stalk" that goes into the battery compartment? There seems to be a gap there.

So, does anyone know if the 350D door would fit the 400D?
 
There is a micro switch that the door operates, so camera will not work without door. I seem to remember that THIS place did them a while back, but were quite expensive! A call wouldn't hurt!
 
A touch of masking tape and a can of black model paint ;)

I don't want to fall foul of the ban hammer after getting a warning for PMing someone about a purchase.

I got a response from the eBay seller and they said they had a black one in stock and just to buy the silver and put a note on to get the black.

They can get all sorts of spare parts at reasonable prices. I bought a replacement 'column' for my BG-E4 grip after it got broken.
