Does AI Servo work between bursts?

Yes
As in..... If I do burst of my lame 3 a second, will the ai servo work to re focus between each shot?

On a higher burst of say 6 to 8, will it have time to re focus?

Thanks

My D700 manages to update its focus between shots when I have it set to 3fps on cont/slow and cont AF.

It can depend on the camera. I know for the D300s I can change a menu setting to keep the frame rate, or not to shoot until focus is achieved. Focus Priority or Release Priority.

Other brands may have similar options in their menus.

The 450D operates as release priority for the first frame and focus priority for subsequent frames.

without sounding thick...can you put that into thick person terms?

He means the camera puts getting the shot in focus before firing off at what ever fps it can do. But after the first shot it changes to putting fps before getting the shot in focus. ( I think anyway )

The first shot will occur when you press the shutter button and any following shots will only occur after the lens reports that it has moved to the newly commanded position. If there is little change in focus and the lens is quick then there won't be much delay but if there's a huge focus change (you've inadvertantly swapped from an F1 car in the distance to a spectators head getting in the way) then the lens move will take longer and the shot will be delayed.

....I'm assuming only slightly thick Robbo but I can go thicker if you think it'd be more beneficial ;)
