Does anyone own Cokin z pro filter kit?

As per the title, got 1 for Xmas, just a little curious about some thing, when sliding a filter into the 1st channel ( closest to the lens) it stops on the bottom pins, is this normal?
Or do I have to slightly pull it over the pins ( fear being when using a grad nd sliding it up and down may scratch it)
