Does anyone 'take on' beginners?

I love doing pics of horses and dogs mostly.

Its great to get experience and advice off here but does anyone do like mentoring?

Bearing in mind i want to do this as a paid hobby eventually not step on anyonees toes or aim to nick any business!!! just would love some proper experience if anyone would be able to spare time and let me some ona shoot or something with them?

long shot perhaps. But im in cheshire...my intrests are dogs/horses mostly as well as cars!! :)


any advice?

I'm doing same as you basically ... but thankfully have got into this via my BF so tend to get many questions answered via him.

I have noticed a couple of togs on horse forums offer on rare occassion for begineers etc to join them for a day on location but like i said I've only seen this once or twice but thought it was a fab idea and really kind.

I will try to remember which forum I was on (member of so many when it comes to horses)

It's fairly rare, as obviously pros don't really want to train up their competition! Maybe something like one of the TP meets will be a better idea, get the chance to hang out somewhere shoot-able with some like-minded people who will usualluy be happy to give suggestions?

^^^ good idea :)

i know its like competing with me eventually... however i wouldnt say no to somone wanting to eventually employ me as a part time photographer.... to work WITH them and not against.

Suze, everyone must start somewhere and if you don't ask you don't get anywhere - do you have a link to any work online (e.g. Flickr) that people can look at?

Where in Cheshire are you and how far are you prepared to travel to be mentored?
 
hi... i had a website that i did as a hobby site as i have a few people seeing my progress (mostly family/friends)...however before i post it id like to update it. but if you want to see it now - pm me :)

Im prepared to travel within reason... i have my own car....

I think people are best contacting me about areas as i dont want to say "within an hour"....

i have a website so far... but do you mean a small portfolio printed with some of my (what i think) good photos?? :)
