Does Camera Take notice of VR

Out of interest do any camera bodies take notice of VR or IS lenses when say shooting in Aperture mode and automatically select slower shutter speeds or can we only get the full potential of VR/IS by using manual?

If in Aperture mode, the camera will select the shutter speed to get the correct exposure according to its metering. If it was to select a slower shutter speed because of the IS/VR, the shot would be overexposed.

VR or IS doesn't take any notice of what mode you are in or what your shutter speed is. If it is switched on it will do it's job whatever shutter speed or aperture you select .

Exactly (y)

Or my take on it is, that the camera will lower the shutter speed below what is accepted as holdable even when it doesn't have a stabilised lens on!

All VR/IS/OS does is replicate a higher shutter in terms of sharpness/clarity...it doesn't affect the EXIF at all
