Hi,

I've taken some nice portraits of my children William & Kate to celebrate the royal wedding but when i took the results to the local fuji lab to be printed the results are really dissapointing - the hair looks like straw and the eyes have a horrible mascara look around them.

I can only assume the is caused by sharpening ?

Does the amount of sharpening need reducing before sending portraits to the lab ?

Here's the image as it was sent (albeit lower res version)

Hmmm that even looks a at bit soft on my screen....dear me i really would be happy to go back to an Olympus mju film camera at times...

Thanks in advance,
Mike.

print need to be sharpened more go printing on a decent inkjet and even more so for commercial labs

Prints usually need a bit more sharpening than for displaying on a monitor because ink bleeds (blurs) a tiny bit as it hits the paper.
How much it does this depends on the paper and printing process.
