Now after my first week in the wonderful world of photography, I feel the need to start to run before I can walk. I know it's not the thing to do but that's just the way I am.

However, I do need some help and advice (other than 'don't run before you can walk!'). I have enrolled on a photography course and already I've produced some suprisingly good results. In fact I'm well proud of how the photos have turned out.

In my pack I received a 'press pass' which I'm itching to use. I would like to gain entry into Sunderland AFC and take photos of the games. Does anyone know the procedure in doing this, who I contact or if I just turn up? Also, what is the minimum zoom lens I will need, 1. To get good shots and 2. Not to make me look inferior to all those massive lenses the press have. I currently have a Nikon D60 with the standard 18-55mm lens, and Nikon 70-300mm.

Please can someone help me out?

If you have a pass just turn up and show it they should simply let you in ...use the 70-300 as the action will always be about 20m away from you lol:thumbs: and welcome

I think it really depends on what type of pass it is, it would have to be accredited to some publication to get in i presume.

First off, post some photos up :)

Second, i have this 70-300 nikkor you speak of, by the sounds of it you have alot of money to throw around, so i suggest getting a better quality lens if your keen on photographing the footy, the 70-300 mil lens is pretty mong then its at the full 300mm, its tends to make the photos a little too soft and it's just not very good quality, which is why i dont use mine unless its a still subject were i can use my tripod (thinking of upgrading but im a poor chap at the moment).

Anyway, get some photos up and keep us updated! :D

Sunderland are in the Premier leagure aren't they - photography is strictly by approved adn accredited photographers and thePremiership has some say over the photographs produced from what I have heard......If AFC measn Association Football Club. Maybe it is AMATEUR Football Club, in which case go in and fire away and then see if the localpaper is interested. They probably won't pay you much BUT MAKE THEM PAY SOMETHING. They won't give you an advert for free.......

What else should you know? The most important thing about taking a good photograph is to BE THERE. If you aren't, it is difficult to do......if you are there, work the scene. Learn to see the lighting...look for the lighting.
