Does this look like fungus?

Hi,

I'm looking at a lens on ebay for my mum to buy for my dad's K-x that we gave him last Christmas and whilst I'm pretty certain its not and is just a few marks, does this look like fungus to anyone?

Its not an expensive lens (i.e less than £45) and is fairly old but it will do the job as my dads already told my mum not to buy him a new tele zoom for Christmas (for the price this is going at though you can't argue) and this has fairly good reviews from other owners.

Looks like water marks, could be champagne spray or similar though which is more of a problem as it won't just clean off, it might have marked the glass. Enough to see in images? Probably not.

Thats what I thought - do you think they would come off fairly easily with a lens cloth or failing that a lens pen?

It only looks like the front element has water marks on it to me which shouldn't be too difficult to clean so do you think its worth getting?

I'd try a cloth, failing that eclipse. I can't see a lens pen shifting anything that a cloth can't.

I'd imagine eclipse should shift even champagne spots

You can see additional spots on the plastic lens surround which suggests that it's been splashed with something and probably rules out fungus. I'm surprised the seller hasn't cleaned it off.

Unfortunately I had my Mum buy the lens for the £22 BIN plus £6 postage
price but then when I accidentally flicked on the page again afterwards I noticed that the lens was not actually what it was described or listed as (An SMC Pentax-F 80 - 20mm f4.7 - 5.6) but the picture actually shows an older MF Pentax-A version! :bang::bonk:

They look so similar to each other that I didn't notice the difference until I saw that it only has 6 electrical contacts on the mount - AF Pentax lenses have 7 or 9 to indicate focal length etc to the camera along with the aperture and a different patterned focus ring.

I've told her to message the seller and get her money back, luckily she paid through Paypal so the seller can't not refund her if it was not as described. I'm now trying to find another similar lens for a similar or slightly higher price.

She's not too happy with me at the moment now...
