Trying my hand at some puppy photography at the weekend of my friends 3month old puppy. Weather looks ace, hoping to get to the park, can anyone offer any tips? :)

High shutter speed if the little scamp is charging around (shouldn't be a problem if the weekend is as bright as it's supposed to be), and if using a narrow aperture focus on the eyes for 'face shots'.

Get down to the puppy's level too. Shots from ground level will draw the viewer in more than shot from above when you'll effectively end up with nothing but 'plans' of the puppy!

Most of all, have fun!

Agree! Also look at other photogs images for inspiration. This guy comes to mind as he was on my local radio the other day...http://www.morethanpaws.co.uk/book_tv.html

Thanks folks

Use treats and toys! I find having a toy or treat in one hand is great for capturing their attention, you can hold it higher or to the side to get them to look up/past you ect. :) You can also offer the toy/treat as a reward for sitting still for the camera.
