Dolwyddelan castle.

So there I was again on an early start for the Ogwen valley. I looked out of the bedroom window and saw some fluffy clouds and stars so I was certain there was going to be a spectacular sunrise. My heart sank, whilst driving north, when I eventually spotted the large bank of clouds over the mountains and to the east blocking the sun . So it was plan B and off for Dolwyddelan castle.

Constructed early 13th century. Amazing to see these castles still standing after all these years even though repairs do happen from time to time.

Saw these on Flickr earlier today. Great images, very atmospheric. #2 is my favourite. Having the surrounding landscape in the shot gives it the edge for me.

Tighter framing of one appeals more.

The hints of road, powerlines etc in two detract for me. It is what it is. The longer shot hides these modern things so well.
