Hi Guys,

Im wanting to set up a small website with clikpic but all the domain names that ive picked are taken. Im wanting something to do with my name but Louise Elizabeth Punchard doesnt sound to great as i always get mocked so was going to use lpphotography but someone else has it on .co.uk, .com and even .net so my options are limited I even thought about doing LEPPhotography but thats been snapped up too, Im running out of ideas now.

Can anyone give me some ideas on a domain name that sounds right and is not too long to type

I wouldn't look at just .com because it's shorter. I'm no expert but I'd guess most visitors to your site will get there by either clicking a link they've seen somewhere or by searching for you on Google. I doubt if too many will actually type in the web address but even if they do there is little difference between .com and .co.uk

Personally I have both for mine so that someone else doesn't come along with too similar a name.

fair point trouble is all the domain names ive tried for example have been taken and running out of ideas on what else to use

b****r have you got any suggestions, I dont have kids lol so wouldnt know on that one.

Most people use thier name but my name doesnt sound too great so wanted to use my initials

I started off with my name as my URL but I'm not overly keen on my surname and a lot of people misspell it so I spent weeks coming up with Black Bull Photography which came from the name of my local pub.

I wanted something that was easy to spell, easy to remember and easy to come up with a nice and simple logo for.....and obviously available.

If this is a purely amateur site for your hobby then using your name is probably the best way to go because at least all your friends and family will know how to find you. Just go on a domain registering site and do as many combinations of your name as you can think of until you find an available one that you are happy with.

I do like your name Black Bull Photography has a certain ring to it. Im hoping eventually to become professional. Im not sure what else i can use as nothing ive thought of has a ring to it

Pubs round here dont have very good names

Dont forget you can include - in URL's.

LEP-Photography.co.uk is available on .com and .co.uk

Avoid hyphens, no-one ever remembers them when typing in domain names.

Ironic as Ive registered all 15 of my domains with 123-reg.co.uk the largest domain provider in the UK.

Maybe in your opinion.....

As for the name, if your not keen on your surname why are using it for your business name?? Louise Elizabeth was a good one mentioned above, or try a twist around those two leaving your surname out.

Its my surname i dont like i however do like punchy pix it has a ring to it and is different and stands out
 
If you like it register it NOW.

I can thoroughly recommend UKSuperweb as a registrar/host. They have very reasonable web hosting and email packages, are based in England with an 0800 support number which actually has a human being on the other end. When I had a small issue setting up my son's website they actually phoned me back!
 
Been trying to think of something better but can't improve on punchy pix
 
dont worry about it lol it sounds neat and has that "ring" to it certainly unusual and stands out so i guess ill be having that tomorrow
 
And if you need any images for the site just go into town on a Friday night, lol.

Not really - I've registered with them but always forget the -. Best not to have one if you can.
