I have a Canon 50D and my main walk around lens is a Sigma EX DG Macro 24-70mm f2.8.. and it weighs a ton! I find the 70mm is just never enough for a walkaround but I do love the f2.8 across the whole range..
I've been looking at the Canon IS USM 28-135mm lens which can be picked up for less than £200 now. This is a much lighter lens and would provide that extra focal length I desire.
The question is though, is it worth changing from the Sigma to the Canon? Will there be much of a difference in quality of glass and image quality/sharpness, etc.? That Canon lens is meant to be very good for its cost.
What do you think? Would I notice a difference in quality? I think I can live without the 2.8 as I will have IS, meaning I should be able to manage with the higher aperature.
