Downsizing 1D to 10D?

Hello all!

After trying a Rangefinder yesterday, i think right now its the way for me to go, i'm looking at some used Lecia III's, and one paired with a Cheaper Voigtlander Len's is gunna cost me around 350/400.

Right now i shoot a Canon 1D and a Zenit. I'm keeping the Zenit. The only EF len's i have is a Nifty Which i love, and my other Len's are M42 Primes which i use with an adaptor.

Now the 1D is an amzing camera, the speed at which you can work with it is amazing. And i love using it, but it is MASSIVE. And i hate to carry it around because it is just so big!

I'm looking at selling and getting a 10d/20d, and i can get the grip so if i want the extra size i can get it.

How does the 20D/10D compare? Are they fast to use? I had a 300d and didn't really like it because it was just slow to use(Slow to turn on, go through menus etc).

What the going rate on the 10D/20D?
 
I had a 10d.. thers quite a difference between the 10 and 20 .. given the choice you should go for the 20d ... either way its a long drop down from any 1d range
 
Yes, ISTR that the 10D is only a little faster than the 300D, which felt glacial compared to the 5D that I replaced it with.

Checked the DPReview stats and the 10D is 2.3s from Off to On. The 300D 3.0s.

The 20D does the same thing in 0.3s.

EF-s lenses is a good point too, if you might be using anything other than your 50mm or M42 lenses. The 20D body is also a bit smaller than its predecessor.

The 20D's a much more attractive proposition.
 
20d i think :)

However, I still use a 10d at weddings because they are just so quite. I can get good 'ring' shots and not p155 the vicar off hahaha

I've owned both 10D and 20D and still own the 20D.

To me the 20D is so much better as it's quicker to power up and to respond and as mentioned above a 20D (or later) gives the option of using EF-S lenses.

I do love my 20D and I'll be gutted when it dies but the truth is that they're getting a bit old now and with age comes increased shutter counts so why not add the 30D and possibly the 40D to the list of possibilities (if a bargain can be had...) as they're newer and could have less clicks on their shutters. Actually, the 30D got an uprated shutter, 50K rating for the 20D, 100k for the 30D.
