When I open a photo in Windows Photo Gallery and look at the properties it says the DPI is 72 dpi ,is this normal?

I hear of people saying save your photo with a min of 300 dpi ???

please help soon:)

DPI (and PPI for that matter) is meaningless for online/electronic display.

The former is only relevant when committing to print (it's a measure of the printer not the photograph) and the later is only relevant when calculating print size and quality.

Ronnie - the camera (in it's highest or raw setting) will record image at XXXX by XXXX pixels (say 4000x3000 for argument's sake). Those pixels stay the same regardless of the dpi(ppi) setting. So at 72dpi you're 4000 pixel-wise image can be reporduced at 55.5 inches wide. However, at 300dpi the same image will be reproduced at 13.3 inches wide.... same image, same pixel dimensions but output resolution can have a major effect on how big the image will be printed.....
