thx for your comments, was quite a small chap but he was very brave & let me get real close for probably ten minutes.
small amount of crop, canon 450, ef100 (no ext. tube), max focus & slid camera along banister until in focus.
taken in New England USA whilst on hols, looking forward to spring next year as they seem to be thin n the ground now.

I am totally obsessed with these guys, I could easily spend a whole day loitering a big lake & really enjoy myself (obviously with wine in hand)
we have some enormous 8" long guys down here still floating around but they are real nervous, the little ones are not so.
