I love the texture and close up of this frothy flower but it looks a little on the dull side, I can't quite decide why...

I'm with you Marianne, I think maybe a touch more "high key" would suit it. Don't know why but I was also expecting a soft focus shot here for the dreamy bit

I can see what the others are saying but to me it works in its own right. Certainly conveys a soft silky gentleness, good dof too.

I think the black framing goes against it, not with it...possibly. :shrug:

I did try to brighten it up a bit but the highlights looked too bright.

I had a prob with the framing too.......my usual black took away attention from the photo, hence a tiny thin line, but I agree with you.
Perhaps no frame needed on this one?

I saw Marianne’s shots after yours earlier, she's using a kinda double white raised frame idea that looks great...have a look.
