DSCL Paper Profile

I am about to start using the DSCL paper profiles to better calibrate my images. My images have been edited in LR on a calibrated screen, so I am happy there, but when I export from LR using the paper profile the final result looks horrid. I understand this is only for the printer to use, but I am worried that the image is reflective of the final result. Is this normal? Will the final result be better than sending an image exported under sRGB?
