Hi all,

As the title really want a DSLR cant make my mind up so lets have your ideas.

If you're new I would got for something like a second hand 400/450D then get a nice lens

yups, second hand is most definately the way to go!

you could pick up a used body with nice lens to get going with, i personally would try get a more mid range camera cause i find the beginner level ones a bit small but that's maybe just me!

think there was a canon 400d with standard kit lens on classifieds for £330? would give you some money to purchase another lens or flash or something?

theres also a canon 30d on the forums with lens for £390 and i would personally go for something like this, but depends what you want to shoot and what brands you have tried out???

just lookin into these thanks lads.
was after nikon really but D90 too much D60 dont work with the lenses i already have.
perhaps s/h D200?

What about a second hand D40 / D60, again it's down to preference and as has already been said some entry level ones can be a smaller size, but depends what you want... would always advise going somewhere like jessops and trying the cameras in store then one you know you are going to feel comfortable with it find the best S/H price

One question - if £500 you total budget or your starter budget?

By this I mean will you have finance available to purchase accessories after the initial outlay, and once you know what type of photography you enjoy?

What lenses do you have?

Not sure you would get a secondhand D200 for £500...(although just answered my question and the answer is yes you can)

Ffordes, they have one for £500 and also Mifsuds does as well. What about Nikon D80, Ffordes has 2, 1 at £359, the other at £379. some money over to go towards a lens. Personally I think the D80 was a better camera than the D200, D200 had some problems. The D80 was a better all round camera and you could use all of nikon's lens range with it, unlike the D40/D60 camera's.
