DSLR Magazine!

Well about two months ago I submitted some of my best shots for these clowns and have heard sod all since! Anyone recommend a decent mag to submit pics to??

How many people do you think submit their images everyday?

You'd be very lucky to get your shots on the mag tbh.

Brad,

To what do you base your right to call these people 'Clowns'? Maybe your images are $hite

I probably sound like a biased fan  but I'd reccommend Digital Photographer magazine because i once a month on the magazine's website they ask for Readers images, its a different theme each month, they include their readers in the magazine alot which is nice, if they choose one your pictures to put in the magazine, they email you and ask for a permission statement :).

dslr runs forum user profiles too, they used one of my pics for their second ever mag cover and I've had a couple of pictures used in articles plus a reader feature.

You really expect a magazine to publish every photo that gets sent to them? Or get back to you to tell you why if they didn't?

They do have a magazine to write you know!

They shouldn't ask for them then. It's just curtsy to thank you for taking time in submitting your pictures to them. It's people like the OP that keep these magazines alive... Submitters.

If I ran a magazine and people submitted content to me, I'd thank each and everyone of them. It'd take seconds with a template.

To heart nothing is rude. It could have got lost or anything.

I agree in principal but it's just not a realistic view of how magazines behave.
I've submitted several types of things to various magazines in the past (no photos though) and i've never heard of a publication doing that.

An e.mail isn't that hard to send, and a reply lets the submitters know the pic has reached the mag. I remember sending in pics to a well know magizine 20 years back and getting a nice letter as a reply, and that cost them money, an e.mail cost nothing. If nobody sent anything in the mag would look pretty bleak. Wayne

Absolutely agree with you SM47. When I was on the receiving end of pictures sent in by magazine readers, I always sent a note saying thanks, we're keeping them for possible use, or thanks but no thanks. If someone is generous enough not only to buy your magazine, but also to bother sending you stuff, then it is essential common courtesy to acknowledge that fact

I would like to think that it was maybe Practical Photography magazine that sent you that letter all those years ago, and that they still make a point of doing it.

BTW Bradders, if you are going to name names, there are about a hundred magazines with DSLR in the title ;)

Haha LOL. You've just made my day Wayne :) Funny how folks remember the little things.

And I would like to apologise if your pictures were returned scratched and with blood all over them. That was because of the glass slide mounts that shattered in the jiffy bag

Practical Photography get thousands of images for their Photographer of the Year competition each month and every single one gets a feedback on why it didn't (if it didn't!) make the cut - it's just a form with a dozen checkboxes that they tick one of but I think this sort of thing is a fantastic touch, not only makes you feel good for entering but gets you some feedback too.
