hi Gents,

I've looked around but I can't seem to find what I want. When I'm just walking about with my camera, I am holding it in my right hand, usually along my side. I take the factory strap and wrap it around my wrist a few times to take up slack and in case it slips from my hand.

I'd like to get just a wrist strap, maybe neoprene or nylon that is snug enough to slip over my wrist and not let the camera drop if I have a slip, but loose enough to slip it on and off easily (i.e. not velcro). Does such a thing exist?

Hey Rick, think this is what you might be looking for? I have that exact one and it's a little grippy to the hand due to the material, but I'd rather that that have it useless in a fall.

Or where you perhaps looking for something that attaches a bit more solidly to your wrist?
 
I've the Nikon AH-4 (genuine version) but have clips attached to the neck strap incase I want to attach that as well if the need arises saving the hassle of of removing/taking the AH-4 off fully...

There are plenty of the MKII versions on ebay for the same money as the ones linked to above if you can wait a week or two for delivery...

There is also a MKIII version now which is 2way (:thinking: what ever that means :lol:) but the original (like mine) is a costly strap at almost £60 now - althou mine was a lot lot cheaper than that when I got mine 2 years ago...

Still going strong & it is leather as well (not some cheap pvc crap) so its nice & soft on my rather larger hands - said with a deep manly voice :lol:

saving you the time to search on ebay --> Ebays AH-4 versions


Also mine has gone thru from a D40, D60, D80, D90, D300s & now my D700 all have been gripped so it does fit a gripped body...

Hi Trig,

I think that is a little more 'strappy' around my wrist that I wanted. That looks like a great strap, but it looks like you tighten a strap around your wrist and then it is there for the day until you unbuckle it. Not quite what i had in mind.

No worries Rick

Just to let you know that it goes around the back of the palm/hand & not the wrist - but then again its seems that its not really what you was after....

:thinking: Maybe I should've read more into the title before posting.... :p
 
I've got one of these although I've only ever used it with a G10 and GF-1, so it may not be substantial enough for a something like a D90...
 
+1 on the Optech straps.

I've also got mine set up so that I can easily swap between the gotcha wrist strap and a normal strap by using the quick release clips. Gives you a few options depending on what you are doing/shooting.
 
+1 for the OPTECH strap mentioned in post number 3.
I've had this wrist strap on both a 450 and 50D. I particularly like the fact that I can easily remove the strap itself, leaving the "UNI-LOOP" adapater attached to the camera body. Very useful when either storing my camera in a tight fitting camera bag or when wanting to switch to an OPTECH neck strap (with 2nd "UNI-LOOP" adapter affixed to the other side of the camera body).
