Saw this on the Leeds and Liverpool yesterday and could not figure out what it was. Nothing in my books either! It was swimming with Mallards, but is about 50% bigger than them. Anyone hazzard a guess?

Nah! It probably would be bigger and have (at least partly) the charictaristic bump on the beak if it had Shelduck in there somewhere!
Where does that white round the eye come from?
Stumped at the mo!

Yeh, thought about that. But wouldn't the larger beak show on any cross?
Eyes still not right either!!
