I think its a duel LNB " But is that it and does anyone know the best place to get one.."

If there are any other ways I would love to know...

It depends what sky boxes you have.
With a standard sky boxes, each one requires a single LNB feed.
Sky plus and Sky HD boxes require 2 LNB's per box.
So if you have two standard sky boxes a dual LNB is fine and if you have two plus / HD boxes you will require a quad LNB.

Yes buddy just a couple of standard boxes.

So a duel LNB put onto the dish then run the cable to the 2nd reciver..?

Sounds like i could do that.

To be honest you would be as well fitting a quad lnb while you're at it.

For all they costQUOTE]

Sounds like a good idea . I could put sky in the daughters room then while I am at it.

Freesat is a NO NO around my area signal is carp.

Freesat is satellite based so if the signal for freesat is crap you wouldn't get sky either.

Freeview is different.

As for LNB's I use www.goldwafers.com they are satellite specialists.

Does anyone know if you can use the SKY+ card in two different box's? ie use one at home then use the same card in another box whilst away? We only subscribe to the standard package if that helps you to answer..

Yes, but you'll only get the basic free channels, which you would get without a card anyway. I've set my parents house up with a quad LNB, it cost (iirc) about 2 quid from the carboot sale and took all of about 5 minutes to fit....

Thanks Graham. What channels are the free ones?

If you look on ebay you can pick up a quad LNB for under a tenner and if you are careful you should be able to replace the standard one with the quad without moving the dish at all. If you had posted this a couple of weeks ago I could have sent you one as Sky have just replaced my duel dish/duel quad LNB with one dish and an octal LNB so I had a couple of spares.

Really sorry to keep hijacking this thread, but if I want to use my sat card whilst away, I have to take the box that it's assigned to with me then? to get all of the channels?
Multi room sounds good!

Thanks for all the help guys.. I have ordered one that will arrive on tuesday. So tues night I will be up and running.

Sky cards are paired to the box using a thing called a boxkey, they may work for a short while in another box but not for long.

Just to say I have two receivers and two freeview cards. that both work.

Cards are (or used to be) tied to a specific box, Sky want you paying through the nose wherever possible so cards won't work in multiple boxes.

/edit beaten to the punch...

im pretty sure theyre not tied (other than contractually), i know someone running someone elses card in a spare box just to get "freesat".

Sorry, but they are, if you have, say, Sky Sports you won't get it if you put the card in another box, it brings up a message saying that it's not the correct card for the box...I've tried

I've just bought another sky+ box on ebay (10 mins ago!) for £26 and I'll ask sky for a multiroom card to be assigned to that box. That should work then shouldn't it?

The LNB arrived . I have checked the dish works with the receiver in the bedroom this evening.

All good. I just need to get the new LNB onto the dish and run the new cable into the bedroom ..

Cheers guys
