You wouldn't believe how much time it took me to finally get this shot, despite this chap being around most of the day. These little birds are tough to photograph!

Nice composition CT, I'd clone the guana of the fence. :D

Thats a Dunnock by the way.

Really? Damn my ignorance! :crying:

I'll get rid of the Dunnock crap then!

:) nice natural framing along the bottom too ! :)

did you have to level that at all ? ;) heheheh

Yep - 1.25 degrees.

Thanks Ian - it's actually still a lot less lthan 1:1 reproduction, but I couldn't find a crop that suited it full size.

Dunnock droppings now removed. :D

Thats a lot better, the droppings were a distraction.

We have these in our garden all of the time, and its great when they bring the family in.

Nice work, that oof plant really works here. Not the most cheerful looking Dunnock (Hedge Sparrow, Hedge Accenor) I've seen but it doesn't make the shot less appealing. These birds can look very impressive despite an initial drab look... sound like a squeaky wheel most of the time.
cheers,
Andy

Thanks Andy. It's a public park on the other side of the the fence. That fence panel is on a sort of flight path for birds from the park who seem to land on it and do a reccy before they drop into the garden. I'm hoping to capture the odd Wren, Robin, Tit etc, but so far I've had no luck catching one as sharp as the Dunnock.

I've got a couple of the neighbours wanting framed copies of the Dunnock. No escape from filthy commercialism!

Great shot CT, I could go on about why its so good but everyone else here has already covered that ;)

My one minor niggle is the fence that it is sat on, I realise that you have absolutely no control over that but if it had been a branch or something else natural, the picture would be perfect.

I have to add that I would be extremely happy to have got that shot myself.

Thanks Steve. I'm really pleased with it and it says a lot about the quality of the 100-400L. I wont tell you how many duff shots I got of this little chap before I got this one.
