Dust bunnies in Canon digital compact

I have an 8 month old Ixus 980IS which has dust on the sensor and also visible in the viewfinder.

Colchester just quoted me £65 + VAT to clean it.

I wouldn't have any idea how to get it apart but any ideas on a cheaper way of dealing with this? I've emailed Lehmans for a quote but perhaps I need an independent.

warranty for dust? Isn't dust my fault?

I know that on a DSLR you used to do one sensor clean under warranty, but do they do that for compacts too?

How can dust get in to a Compact you can not remove the lens so WARRANTY

More or less what I was going to say. Compacts shouldn't have dust inside them. And it's unreasonable to expect you to spend the rest of the camera's life cloning it out of pictures. Plus the resale value is nearly zero. Definitely a warranty problem and don't let them tell you otherwise.

Following this thread I sent a reply to Colchester asking why it wasn't covered under warranty and a copy of the original enquiry to Lehman's.

I haven't heard back from Colchester yet but Lehman's responded to the original enquiry to say it would be a warranty issue and please send it with proof of purchase.

Thanks for all the help.
