"Dust Donut™ Add a weather seal to the mount of any DSLR Lens"

Idea is to add weather seal to this part of connection. Although the lens isn't weather sealed, but it should provide protection for weather sealed body in case of sudden downpour.

Can also be a very cheap L lens rubber seal replacement.

Looks very useful, won't mind getting a few for likes of 50/1.8 to give me a piece of mind when going out on overcast day without a bag.

Hope I'm not breaking any rules posting kickstarter item on here......

All my Nikkors have this, even my non-pro 70-300. Do non L Canon lenses not have this already?

not cheaper Nikkors like 35/1.8G or 18-55mm.

unfortunately even some L lenses doesn't have this, standard focal length primes up to 135/2 doesn't have this. :(

My 35/1.8G has it.
oh, okay, thanks. I never noticed it there. only noticed them on 18-200 VR. definitely not on kit lenses though. but that begs the question who would spend £1000 on weather sealed body, but only get a £60 kit lens.

this kickstarter at the moment is for Canon EF mount.

that stylist looks interesting, but either your arm or your neck will hurt very badly after a while........

Nice idea - but surely there are other points for the water to leak in? Like the focus ring.

FWIW I've used self amalgamating tape for this before now.

Fair point and tbh, there's many non-L lenses out there that are more expensive to replace than many bodies.

My 35/1.8G has it.

Thought it did. Every recent Nikkor I've owned had it, I'm pretty sure. My 50 1.8G has it, my 70-300VR has it, and neither of those are pro lenses.
