Got a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 Nikon fit lens and I've managed to get a huge bit of dust on the inside of the front element.

Shows on any pictures about f8 :bang:.

What options do I have to get it cleaned? I'm guess it needs to be taken apart so would my only option be Tamron as it would need to be calibrated

Thanks.

I would be very surprised in fact astonished if dust on the front element showed in any of you images, I would lay money on the dust being on the sensor

if you're seeing it under the front element, but above the aperture blades, and then only at f8 or above then what you are seeing has to be on the sensor.

unless the bit of dust is really big, you're unlikely to see anything on the final image at all.

i think every lens i've ever owned has had the odd spec in there. just don't look for them and you'll never know they're there.

I hope your right, but I put other lenses on and carried on shooting and the dust spot went. Will try cleaning the sensor when I get home then.

It's not a tiny spec of dust, it's a fairly big bit.

Only reason I noticed it was it showing on the photo.

fingers crossed then

I had a similar thing last week, gert great hair showing on images with one lens, swapped lens, it was gone, put original lens back on a bit later and still no sign. Honestly think it is on the sensor, also I saw someone a while back posted a link to someone who had put up photos with a lens that had a badly damaged front element ( read shattered) and apart from some lose of contrast no real image issues.

That would be this one LINK
