Dust in lens

OK I am looking to get one or two lenses in the near future. I have seen a few up for sale (second hand) that have one or two specs of dust that are not really that noticeable. The seller says that they do not interfere with picture quality whatsoever. Is it worth taking the risk? Or is there a way I can clean out the dust?

I wouldn't worry about it, as the seller says it does not show in pictures you should be fine, my understanding is that all lens will acquire dust inside at some point in there life, there is a very interesting post on here where a guy destroys a lens and in the process keeps taking pictures with it, it's an eye opener for sure, basically the front element gets smashed and yet on the picture it's just like a smear.

Never seen a picture yet that shows up dust inside a lens and probably never will. Ive never understood this obsession with tiny specks of dust inside a lens. Now sensor dust is a different issue altogether and clearly shows up in shots.

I've got dust in my Tamron 70-300 (it's impossible to avoid it) and you can't tell at all in pictures. There's no risk at all.

I think that link sums it up pretty well, that a couple of dust specs will not alter the image.

Yeah, that's the one, couldn't find it myself

But yeah a spec of dust here and there should be absolutely fine from the results of that test.
