Dust on sensor - new DSLR

Hello everyone,
A brand new DSLR, purchased by me from a high street retailer. Camera body never been out of the box (seal still intact on box), but a couple of dust spots are clearly visible when taking test shots at F22. Have tried 2 different lenses - same spots, same place on image! Have also had a look at the computer monitor to make sure there's no dirt on the screen.
A very simple question, really, and one which I don't have any previous experience of. Is it likely/possible/probable/unlikely that a brand new camera could have dust on the sensor?
Thanks.

Have you tried blowing it out with a rocket blower? it could have gotten on there when you put the lens on.

It can happen, dust is everywhere. :) Just use rocket blower and see if that works, if not you can invest into cleaning kits or just ask in local photo stores if they offer camera cleaning. :)

Yep, do you clean the rear of your lenses?

This happened to me some years ago with a 30D body and a 24-70 lens, i never use to clean the butt of the lens or the rear of the lens caps, i do now.

many thanks for all replies.
Have now tried a rocket blower and it seems much better.
Thanks for the info GRECIAN - I am wondering if the inside of the rear lens cap was the culprit!

If local to you, take it back to the shop and get them to clean if for you .... it should not be charged!

I was going to say take it back... but if you have "removed" the dust i suppose theres no point now. I would have taken it back personally or used the inbuilt cleaning that most of the cameras come with these days.
