Hi,
Just asking has anyone been there?? as I would like to take some photos of birds. Just read a few reviews and it mixed ones....
Thanks

I've always found a visit pleasant and productive. The birds are captive raptors of various species. Some object to captive birds on principle, it doesn't bother me, they do good conservation work there.
They hold flying displays on a regular basis. It's worth bearing in mind that it can get very busy on a warm summer week-end. It attracts all sorts so it's worth getting yourself seated at - or near - the front in good time or your view may well be blocked by a sea of heads.

They do a photography day where a falconer or keeper will take you round on your own and will get whichever birds you want to photograph. It's worth giving them a call. I did it a couple of years ago, so not sure if they still do it. It cost a bit as well though

Thought the place was quite good. I managed to get some O.K shots when I was trying out my new 50D. As kelack says they do, do a falconer day where you can get a bit more up close & personal. Nice for head shots..

However IMO providing you get a good seat for the displays (There are a few at diffferent times) you can get some decent shots in-flight (If your quick enough, the lanar falcon is like a rocket!) which I think always look better and more natural, even though you are at a captive centre.

I would definitely go back.
