See this on the bay, HERE contacted the seller who says they are imported directly from India. without any duty or Tax, its about a £73 pound saving on cheapest UK price. two questions:
1. I presume it's not a cheap copy (presume no one would bother )
2. any body know what the duty taxes would be if added?

Cheers

Would help if you put s descruiption of what goods your talking about or a link to the auction.

Personally "barge pole" springs to mind regarding anything sold on ebay from India but thats just me :D

this could result in a custom charge sting as well-which could be around £25?

Sorry for jumping in here...

You say that you will save £75 - $209.99 - £140 roughly according to the PO xchange rate.. Robert White are selling exactley the same one for £179.00... If the ebay version is to go by..

So I would say go with the RW just incase of the import charge... Unless they guarantee that you wont pay the charge...

alot of the middle east sellers will mark the goods on the import label with a low value and as a GIFT thats the bit that gets you off the hook for the duty and taxes!

Just seen the charges from RW... They add the tax on top an extra £31!!!! So please excuse my last post... Should have checked the total when its added to the basket... £210.32 god knows if that is free delivery thou..

I would put money on it being fake gear, especially coming from India.

 Was just about to point that out, delivery is usually extra, though their customer service is excellent

 I would hope it would be at those prices... shame that they dont mention/show the actuall total cost 1st - inc vat

Really? I've no knowledge of the fake trade, but do you think it would be worth their while, it's not like a very high value product or something they'd loads of?

EVERYTHING is faked, from biros to complete cars. The fact that it's a seller in the US dropshipping products made in Europe from a "warehouse" in India and offering to get them into the UK tax-free would immediately make me suspicious that they aren't coming from a legitimate source.

If Flash is right & it is fake you could always put a claim into paypal & get your moneyback - BUT quite a big BUT!! -the return shipping costs is down to you....

Just a thought here - But could you help him out (Flash in the pan)

There's a guy on here bought the Elinchrom 135 Octa from that guy. It was genuine, he paid no extras, and was happy. (I don't want to post his name, maybe he'll see this and confirm.)

I emailed the same seller, he said it was genuine, but supplied without a carrycase. He couldn't supply a case either, which was £40 extra from the Flash Centre, which kind of took the shine off it for me so I but never got around to it.

Cheers Richard, that makes it less attractive. I actually use the bag a lot for location work. For someone only using it in the studio it would be a good deal.
Cheers
