Ebay split focus screens?

Has anyone tried the split focus screens you can buy from eBay for Canon 5d/5dII cameras? Or for any camera manufacturer?

I'm interested because Catzeye don't make one for the Canon 5D series and frankly while the super precision screens are ok, I'm pretty sure manual focus will be much easier with a split focus screen.

Why doesn't Canon make one!!!!!
 
Make sure when you get it you set your 5d2 up to the correct screen. I fitted the crosshair screen and it made a whole difference to my horizontals.
 
I had an ebay one but it made the view finder very dark, I've now got a Canon EF-S screen which is much better
 
Considered one a while back but read a lot about them needing shimmed and stuff and couldn't be bothered with the hassle.
 
I've thought about it, but the Katzeye products are quite expensive, just to get back to what we took for granted in the film SLR days.
 
Wouldnt recommend! tried one and scratched the original getting it out. Put the new one in and it was much darker made everything look grey, and although I was careful it had dust spots

Fixation got the job of putting the original back ...............
 
My original is knackered anyway.

It does say on the item description that unlike some, this does not darken the viewfinder, but won`t know for sure until it arrives. :)
 
Anyone know what the difference is between the dual 45° and single 180° screens?

Edit: answering my own question a little bit. 45° being the angle of the line across which you determine focus.. still a bit confused about the benefits/drawbacks of single/dual though?
