Hi all can anyone help I want to buy a new lens but I cant decide 70 200 f4is or 2.8is to be used with 7d well 400d at mo till 7d back in stock

What will you be using the lens for?

If you can afford it I'd go with the 2.8. The f4 is smaller and lighter but I personally would rather have the wider maximum aperture.

Both are great lenses and you can't go wrong with either.

I have the f2.8 IS and all I will say its a cracking lens. The f4 is lighter and cheaper so I suppose your choice will mainly depend on your budget.

sweet thnx guys but I have the chance to get mk1 or mk2 should i just go for it and go all the way with mk2 its a big leap for me as I only photo my hounds really lol

I have the Mk1 so can't comment on the Mk2, however you could get the Mk1 and still have enough left over for another lens.

If you are a beginner f/4 would be plenty good (more DOF - less chance for error). Get is version if funds allow, but even non-IS works great with a bit of careful handholding.

If you can afford it then go for the F2.8.
