A couple of shots from our Xmas holiday......

(Changed my hosting site to image shack, as for some reason Photobucket won't show up on my screen!?)

They showing fine for me :)

Both nice images but the colours in the second are supurb!!

The SPhinx photo is one of the nicest of it I've seen with the pyramid in the background.

As Steve says colours in second are great :)

Thanks Steve, dod. Our visit to Cario was a 'day trip' excursion from our Xmas holiday in Cyprus, a trip of a lifetime to see the Sphinx & Pyramids. A fantastic experience.

Thats exactly what I did last May. The three-hour bus ride at each end is a killer though, eh? :suspect1:

Which ship did you go on?

Our trip was by Airplane GfK, we had to be up at 5am to get the coach to Cyprus airport. We arrived back at our hotel in Pathos at 1:30 the following morning. A long day, but well worth it. Thankfully we didn't have the 3 hour bus ride to endure.... but we did have an armed escort from the airport, plus an armed policeman on each of the 3 coaches!

Which airport was it? Paphos or Larnaca?

We knew about the bus ride but we figured it was a better way to see more of Egypt than going by plane.

The transport system in Cairo and overall standard of driving were certainly an 'experience'. :nut: Imagine the worst driver you have ever seen in the UK... then imagine EVERYBODY being that bad, or worse. That's Cairo! (I say this for the benefit of others - I'm sure you know what I'm talking about)

We flew from Pathos airport, the flight to Cario lasted about an hour. The trip was really well organised and our guide was really good, very informative. We drove by coach straight to the Pyramids... a word of warning for anyone planning the trip.... beware of the 'traders' at the Pyramids. We were harrassed as soon as we arrived there, a very firm 'NO THANKYOU' is required. We also had a 2 hour guided tour of Cario museum, again this was fantastic, especially being able to view all King Tutankamens treasures.

I agree about the driving in Cario being an 'experience', it makes the rush hour over here seem like a cosy drive in the country!

I found that wearing sunglasses (therefore no eye contact), plus complete ignorance meant that they gave up sooner. As soon as you speak, thats it. They know you can communicate and they will NOT leave you alone.

Same here. Did you go and see the mummies? They've got 11 of 'em and they charge you something like £6 to go into that section alone. Its worth a look, though.

We also paid the extra to see the mummies, and as you say, definitely worth a look.
