Hello guys,
I was looking on a website and came accross this add .

Elinchrom Studio 3 Head Set - 300w/500w/500w
set includes:
1x Elinchrome Style RX 300w Studio Head
2x Elinchrome EL 500w Studio Head
3x tripod stand
4x Prolinca umbrella
fittings
cables
heavy duty travel suitcase
bag for tripods

Continuous Lighting & Flash Photography. Many different setting for light intensity, different connection modes, sync and more.

The set and case is in very good condition, clean and is a well kept set. Selling because of lack of use. Brand new this case would be over £1,000

The guy can sell it for 500 pounds and i thought it's a great offer.
He also emailed me this :

The kit runs on portable power cords same as computers do so they plug off from both ends. At the moment I have the Euro plugs on them. I can look for some UK cords for you also. Very easy to use UK computer power cords or just buy small adapters to the ends from any B&Q for example £5 each.

Should i buy it??? thank you xxx

Suggest re-post in Lighting section.

Where is the kit located, and how old is it?

I'd be a little wary, It does appear to be a great price..I would estimate at approx £850-1000.

The Style RX 300W is a great strobe - digital output levels in 1/10 stop. Probably worth £175 - £300 used. Could be anything from 3-12 years old. I have had the older Style 300s and the bigger brother RX 600s.

The EL 500W lights are older, have 1/4, 1/2 and full power settings not stops/part-stops. I'd say £200-£250 used - they could be anything from 15-25 years old. I used to have some of these, and used them at a studio/at weddings when I was apprenticing 12 years ago.

Stands, brollies, case are worth about £100-£150 again depending on condition and quality.

So as a package I'd say it is a fair price depending on quality and condition. You'd want to check the flash tubes are not damaged or discoloured and the modelling lamps work - and if they have ever been serviced. Also check the sync sockets, slave cell etc are all working.

Those older lights are prone now to be less stable in both colour and duration. Certainly the RX 300 is a great light but you could get better than the 500s particularly as you may need more control of the output levels of the more powerful lights.

Thank you so much guys for your advise. I do appreciate it.
