does anyone own a set of these? and find the softbox poles way too long?

i'm looking at them attached and they're actually bending under the strain and taking this apart is proving impossible without using brute strength and perhaps breaking something...

just seems impractical to me

also the centre ring is white on mine and silver on the video...what colour is yours? (and might this be the root of my problems?)

cheers

Prolinca softbox? Mine is exactly the same. Rubbish design. I gave up trying to take it down, for fear of wrecking it. It's really a contradiction of an amateur kit, designed to be put away after occasional use

I replaced my softbox with the (much more expensive) Elinchrom version - vastly better.

Cheapest/easiest way would be to swap the softbox for a shoot-through umbrella. Flash In The Pan is selling them in the For Sale section. He also has a brolly shoot-through/softbox for £15 I think - might get one of those myself. Make sure any brolly style attachments have an Elinchrom-friendly 7mm shaft (8mm won't fit).

But apart from niggles, it's good kit :)

I don't think any of my brollies will fit Elinchrom gear - I asked the factory about supplying some with 7mm shafts, but I don't think they could grasp the idea of a 1mm difference in size :bang:

Cheers Flash, that's saved me a PM. What are Elinchrom about with that 7mm thing? Flippin daft.

I've got another source I can check, but the minimum order is 200 of each size :bonk:

I'll have two - seriously - and maybe the OP will also. Biggest size please. 196 to go... :D
