Elinchrom Studio lighting and Nikon flashgun sync setup

Hey all,
I have a Elinchrom 2no 4 D-lite kit with skyport trigger(std, new) i have also acquired a new Nikon SB-600 flashgun.

As money is tight i wanted amongst other things to use the flashgun to illuminate the studio background.

I have worked out how to use the flash off camera and trigger it using the command manager (using the on camera flash) on the camera body(Nikon D70) but can't get the Elinchroms and flashgun to fire together. The skyport uses the hot shoe which means the SB-600 can't trigger from the on camera flash/signal on the camera.

I thought the SB-600 might work off a light sensor when the Elinchroms fire. I could use it the other way and use the Elinchrom light sensors but then my on camera flash fires which is useless on portraits.

Perhaps there is a really easy solution/setup i don't know about Please help!!!
 
The SB-600 doesn't have an SU-4 (slave) mode so won't fire optically. However, you can get optical hotshoe adaptors from jessops and Speedgraphic; it's a little block with a hotshoe on the top for the flash, and a screw thread on the base for tripod /stand use. it caries a light sensor that picks up any flash and activates the flashgun attached to it. Think they're only a tenner or so. That should help you fire your '600 alongside the Elinchroms :)

Either that, or buy another Skyport reciever and connect it via the PC port and that will work too :)
