Email System on Mac

Can anyone suggest an email program to use on my MacBook Pro. I'm having a lot of emails disappear in the ether - tried to see if it's the server but my business partner isn't having any problems so must be in Mac Mail (also, attachments not being properly attached?)

I've used Entourage as part of my Office suite but didn't like that.

Can anyone suggest something apart from MacMail or Entourage to try to see if it gets rid of the missing mail problem?

BTW, I'm running a 2009 MBP with 10.7.1 Lion

Google for Sparrow, Postbox or Thunderbird. They're the main alternatives to the native app, plenty of others as well if you search.
 
I've found all the different options but wondering if anyone has recommendations or avoids for me?

I use outlook, the new version of Mac office has it in....!

Works ok but not as good as the Windows version.
 
The mail app surely doesn't make you mail disappear. Millions are using it around the world.

One challenge there is though, and that is not really Mail.app fault as it is playing within the standards but more to do with how MS Exchange handles attachments. The attachment has to be at the end of the message as otherwise your content for an MS Exchange user will move to an attachment file and they never look at that. So ensure it is at the end, you can default that in preferences, and tick windows compatible attachments.
 
I use Outlook too, which is good because being a predominately PC user I can understand it.
 
If they're disappearing then I'd check the junk folder and that the option to only show unread mail isn't switched on.

I don't use mac mail. I have always found it not up to much and use thunderbird which seems less bad.

You'd be surprised, we get it a lot

Well indeed but it is chicken and egg. Exchange server doesn't play to the standards but has more installations especially in corporations. So sod the standards? Anyway it is one setting to change from a certified unix and the "problem" is sorted.

What references are there then to disappearing mail from mail app? I have never heard of this before. My company is a registered Apple developer (and Android/Microsoft/WebLogic etc) and never seen any bulletins nor reports about it. We've got a mail store of over 300Gb.

Like to help, but I don't get what is happening. Can you paint a scenario?
