Hi everyone,

I recently purchased quite a few compatible EN-EL3 batteries for my D90.

Some of them charge fine, where the light flashes then turns to a solid light to indicate that they have been fully charged.

But some of the batteries will have a flashing light for a few minutes, then the charging light turns off completely.

I've taken the battery out and put it back on charge but the exact same happens.

Does this mean the batteries are malfunctioning or do I need to do something?

Just really frustrating how some work and some don't.

Thanks.

The D90 uses the en-el3e battery which has 3 contacts rather than 2 on the non-"e" version. The 3rd contact provides charge state to both the camera and charger and without it the D90's battery charger won't be able to charge the non-"e" battery correctly.

Hope that helps :)

Hi Steve,

Many thanks for your reply. The strange thing is, these do have the 3 contacts . I think I'll just have to stick to oem batteries in the future.

Thanks :)
