Hi,
I have a studio for my portrait work, and as I am still quite new I hope this question doesn't make me sound too stupid!!
What are the best settings/lenses to use to enlarge a picture to around 30" x 24" or the custom size around that figure?
I have a client who wants a large portrait of her daughter and I have never done an enlargement so big.

Thanks for your help,

Mel :)

With your 5D you have no problem just take them as normal just get it right in camera and not have to crop it.

You can try Genuine Fractals Print Pro, which is the best software I know for interpolation. The results are really amazing and it may help you to get the best results.

Do you think if you had a 10MP upscaled to 24MP using GFPP printed at 50 x 50, and then a native 24MP printed at 50 x 50, that you would be able to see the difference? Curious...

You can try to take the same shot with a 5D and a 5D Mark II (D3 vs D3X is also a nice test), interpolate the file from the 5D to 21MP and then check 100% crops to see how they compare. It's an easy and cheap way to make the test.
I'm sure the file from the 5D Mark II will look better, but it doesn't mean GFPP isn't capable of doing a great job, because it does. It's not suppose to be a replacement for a better sensor, but a large print will look much better if you interpolate the file first.
