eos 3d rumours

CR have hardly pinned it, people taking their reporting as gospel when they don't want you to is why they have such a patchy rep. "take it with a large grain of salt as it is a new contact"

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a new DSLR from both camps given Nikon have lost the D3x D3s split and Canon have lost the 1D 1DS split, but I'd be surprised if anything that is rumoured this early on from a new source has any degree of credibility
 
This rumour only arises because Nikon has a 38mp camera and people think Canon needs to compete with that sector.

They used to think 22mp in the mkii was LOADS!

I am sure Canon will release a camera with around 40mp in time, that is almost for certain, so I find these rumours kind of meaningless until it becomes real.
 
Sure they said the 5d3 would have mega amount of mega pixels and it didn't 1mp more than the last, quality is better than amount, I want a 5d3
 
I hate these stupid rumour websites as they just spout utter dross. The EOS 3D camera has been rumoured for nearly a decade now, yet its still just an idea. Personally I can't see canon making a FF sensor with more than 36mp as the physics that requires just aren't worth it.

A MF sensor though makes more sense, but that market is some long established (and bloody expensive brands) such as pentax and hasslebrad.
 
I saw this on canonwatch really sure what to make of it really.

"Image quality at ISO 50 is said to be the cleanest, sharpest and smoothest [ever seen]. On the other hand, IQ at ISO 1600 seems to be not so exciting. And yes, the rumored camera should show up at Photokina."

DDoes that mean it is bad or at the same level of sensors already out there :thinking:

At least there is not long to go till we find out.

They said themselves that they don't believe it. Yet you continue to complain about rumour sites. Nobody else is saying this is a reputable source. The source, CR, isn't saying this is a reputable source. We're just asking you to stop acting like anybody ever said it was a reputable source.

I've heard that the 3D will have a whopping 8MP and a super-fast 6 fps.

Then again that was the rumour from 5 years ago.

That would follow from the dropping of the high resolution aspects of the 1DS and the 5D's previous resolution advantage. From these sounds of things (again not putting any weight behind the rumours just discussing them), this camera would truly be their studio MF competitor. Good low ISO performance suggests studio, high MP suggests studio. We'll see. Canon haven't even guaranteed that a camera's coming and tbh the longer the 5D3 has to fight against the D800, the worse it gets from Canon and the more market share they lose.
