Yes
The EOS 1300D (that has the pioneering feature "Food Mode) was just announced today so here are a list of bodies that still use DIGIC 5 or 5+. Bodies like 1D X Mark II, 5Ds, etc use DIGIC 6 or 6+.

03/2012 - 5D Mark III
09/2012 - 6D
03/2013 - 100D

Note: 1300D uses DIGIC 4+.

Eh, what's the point in this?

Being an entry level DSLR I'm not surprised Canon don't implement the latest processors. It wouldn't make any sense for them to have a basic line using the best hardware. I'm sure people purchasing a 1300D will be happy with the results though.

Edit - Another random thread?

Here's a list of bowls I still fill with Crunchy Nut.....

These are bodies most likely to get an upgrade within 12-24 months. Be aware or suffer buyer's remorse.

The old L lens list also serves the same purpose. Giving those buying a new lens an idea if the lens they are eyeing may have a refresh in 12-24 months time.

Oh right. A bit of that in the OP might help people to see where you're going with this.

It doesn't always work out like that though.

Neither does the L lens post.

Better to know than be ignorant. ;)
But like I said, it doesn't work like that.

Upgrades have happened whilst still using the same processor across the entire Digic range on numerous upgrades (for example, in 2008 3 generations of xxxd bodies used the digic 4!)

Have a look here;

Your opening post starts with the 1300d though. Would be better if you'd started something like "these cameras use an older version of canons processors so might be due an upgrade".

Also as stated it might not work like that so to differentiate 1dx etc

Indeed, the 1300d, using the digic 4, which shows an upgrade using an older processor?

So the OP's logic in judging upgrade paths by the processor is flawed by his own example.

If you spend your life waiting for upgrades, you'll never buy anything.

I'm waiting for an upgrade to the 6D, I might be dead before it comes but every day brings it closer:), maybe:(.

Are you saying the replacement to the 5D Mark III, 6D and 100D will still use a DIGIC 5 or 5+ chip?

No, where did you get that from? But they might?

No one knows what they might have? They might have a 5+, 6, or even duel 5+ or duel 6+, 7 or something else.

It's just an unreliable way to predict upgrades as I've pointed out. For example, the 4+ actually upgraded the 5 in certain compacts. A much more reliable way would be simply to predict the upgrade by timescale - every 4 years, that's what usually happens with Canons higher end :). So on that basis we will likely see the 5d3 and / or 6d replacements this year.

And in the mean time you are missing out and an extremely capably camera which is the current 6D, at a much more affordable price than the mkii will be on release.

Yep, great camera!

I remember when the 5d3 was first released and people were just getting their orders through on here, and even then, on release day, there were people wondering about the mk4!

If you folks want to nitpick the thread for all it's worth then its your time well spent.

I did the neighborly thing by giving a list of bodies that have a very high probability of being updated within the next 12-24 months.

People who are willing to wait often want the latest and greatest. These same set of people often are the so called 'innovators' who are ahead of the 'early adopters'.

If you see no value in it then hurrah for you.

It's not nitpicking.

The thread had no explanation so no one knew what the point was to start with...

And it's not a great way to predict updates, it really isn't and I'm just curious as to why you were using it as such. It's like predicting an upgrade based on megapixels.

This isn't really a great place to ahve a list. Start your own blog or something

You could even have your own ads and earn a few cents ;)

Certainly, but don't ignore the smilies of self-awareness, and I might still weaken.

I bought a EOS 70D knowing full well from the rumour sites that the 80D was soon to be released. There is no buyers remorse as I bought the best camera I can afford and I am confident in my skills to create great photos with the camera I have chosen to buy. If the 5D mk3 was suddenly reduced to the price I paid for my 70D maybe then would I suffer some buyers remorse.
To be honest like most photographers I have no idea what advantage a digic 4 has over and above a digic 5. I just assume the marketing department of the camera company is trying to blind me with science when they try to explain its technical specifications.

Since the 80D has been announced has there been price cuts on your 70D? How does the 80D's price compare to your camera?

TBH the title could do with some work that would have elicited more thoughtful replies as odd jim pointed out.

The 80D cost more than I want to pay for a camera.
@dolina maybe you can explain to us ignorant folk the difference between the digic 4 & 5.

People who spend their lives waiting for the latest gear to be released are called many things never in my experience innovators! An innovator is more likely to be making their own kit or using existing stuff in new and exciting ways!

Canon's bodies are upgraded on a pretty predictable cycle so looking at the processor in a body as an indicator is pretty pointless!

Hah! I bought my 70D over a year ago and I could still suffer buyer's remorse now it's been superseded if I felt I had to have the latest and best. But I don't, partly because the 80D doesn't offer me much at all and partly because of the price. Like redsnappa I bought the best I could afford and it does what I want and need for now. I'm thinking about a 6D but can wait to see if a mark 2 appears and either spend what will be to me an outrageous sum on the new one or get the mark 1 at a discount. I can wait because I don't have a need, only a want. I have to say that if you put off buying a camera for up to 24 months to avoid buyer's remorse you're in big trouble and probably still have that old Halina you got as a kid.

Another point though is, although I know you claim to be offering a service here, do you really think that people on this forum don't know that upgrades are due for these cameras? I was under the impression that the 750D and 760D was the improved 100D anyway.
