Epson P-2000 - anyone got one? (its ok now got it sorted)

I've managed to get hold of a Epson P-2000 multimedia viewer and have read something somewhere about this an the D700...

Does it work ok with the D700 an does anyone use it with Lexar's 400x 8gb UDMA CF cards :shrug:

Cant remember exactly what I read but it was something to do with firmware (apologies that I'm not more specific )

What do you mean does it work with .....

These devices were initially sold years ago as a portable backup for camera cards, now they are considered very expensive portable picture frames, though many will show vids etc.

Trouble with these things is that like the superb Premier DP-3520 I have they soon become outdated, as cards increase in size and specs for USB change, as you know the latest is USB3, the older devices will not read the newer cards.

On a computer (pc) you can add new usb cards, on these devices you are stuck, there will come a day when despite firmware updates it is useless, sorry.

Have you noted how a card reader about three years old will not read newer xd cards etc.

Also the HDD capacity is only 40GB, when cards were 1GB for cameras and if you were lucky 4GB, that was fine, but I have many 32GB cards, no point in that device for backup.

Its ok now - it wouldn't read my Lexar UDMA 8gb cf card nor SD cards... Amazing how when you update the firmware it works :bang:

Had to order a SD-CF adapter so my partners SD card can be read... Only got it for when we're away as didn't spend a fortune on one.. Does what I want it to do...
