Epson R1800 problem

OK I picked this one up a while ago and I am having intermittant problems with it where it will start to print and then stop for now reason. The spool is cleared so Windows thinks it's printed but the status monitor indicates it is searching for the printer but can't find it.

Connections seem fine. Driver is the most up to date.

Any thoughts?

A mate of mine had a similar problem, after countless hours fiddling with it and updating drivers etc, it turned out to be the usb cable at fault, it was connecting properly, so maybe try changing that and see if it helps.

I have changed the cable already so pretty sure that isn't it. The connection on the back of the printer does feel a bit wobbly though so I wonder if that might be it. Looks like a weekend job!
