Could I just check something as I see this all over the place and I'm not quite sure. When people say "equestrian photography" are they basically saying that they are photographing people riding horses or does it cover more than that?

I would say that "equestrian" relates to anything to do with horses :shrug: not necessarily people riding them.

to quote the oxford dictionary:

equestrian (eques|trian)
Line-break:

* On
* Off

Pronunciation:/ɪˈkwɛstrɪən, ɛ-/
adjective

*
relating to horse riding:his amazing equestrian skills
*
depicting or representing a person on horseback:an equestrian statue

noun

*
a rider or performer on horseback

Origin:

mid 17th century (as an adjective): from Latin equester 'belonging to a horseman' (from eques 'horseman, knight', from equus 'horse') + -ian

so technically anything to do with riding, however with my complete contempt for the english language personally id use it to describe most forms of horse based activity.
