Yeah I do like the extreme HDR shots too...but some are well done and some aren't :lol:

I recommend taking as many shots as you want here - however try and learn from this, don't use it as your default method of photography - machine gunning :lol:

You may find in a typical landscape/seascape shot that hardware or software grads are all you need. You might find in forests that grads have no real benefit whereas HDR could really create a sublime image.
 
I suppose in a forest HDR could work better than on top of a hill because of the mixed lighting you get from the shade of the trees etc?
 
Yeah...there is nowhere to position a grad of benefit. The dynamic or tonal range could be improved with HDR.
 
You do realise after all the advice you've given me I'm expecting perfect photos from next weeks trip! :p
 
I am most definately :lol:....Only joking, often you set out for some landscapes only for the weather to ruin it. Then next time an unexpected shot turns out way better than planned for :thumbs:
