Equipment Insurance...

...would it cover possible weather related damage to equipment? I'm going to thailand for five weeks and I'm scared that my gear will get damaged by the high humidity (Not so much the rain as I'm hoping I can keep it covered for that)

If anybody can give me some pointers how best to travel with my kit in thailand and also how to protect it that would be great too!

Not sure how you would go with general household insurance, I had to pay extra when my gear was covered under that. I'm full time now so I have separate insurance for gear.

Both covered me for a accidental damage and theft.

Oh yeah check with your insurance company.

I was going to get seperate insurance, im only 18 so wouldnt really be fair on the parents to end up claiming £2500 if the worst happened on their house insurance.

I haven't filled in many insurance claim forms in my life but none of them asked what age I was!

I mentioned the age because it isn't MY house insurance so its a bit sly to claim off something my mum will have to pay back in next years premium.

Have a look at photoguard.. think they have a number to call so you could confirm whether it is covered (or not).

Do a search you'll find loads of companies offering it. I got PLI and got equipment cover at the same time. Thinking you may get the coverage you're after with travel insurance, probably cheapest way through.
