I'm looking to insure my camera gear along with my other portable electricals like my Macbook, Phone, iPad etc. against accidental damage and theft.

The last time I looked, most wanted an original receipt, which isn't always possible when I tend to buy a lot of stuff second hand or have since lost receipts.

If it is a case of choosing the right contents insurance policy that'll cover it all out and about, then I'm happy to consider that, too.

Suggestions?

Check with your household insurer first the items maybe covered by that policy, or could be added for a lower cost than a separate policy.

I've got my camera gear insured through Photoguard and made a claim last year for damage to a second hand 7D. I gave them all the evidence I could to support it was mine (bank transfer details etc) and I got the claim sorted with the minimum of fuss. Excellent service from them TBH. However, for other gadgets like phones, Ipad, laptops etc I have them covered on the house contents policy as I couldn't find an online independant insurance to cover everything for anywhere near the price of the home insurance.

Does anyone here use Endsleigh?

I had a quote from them for £10k contents + away from home cover for 2.5k of laptops, both our phones and 2.5k of unspecified items of no more than £1500 per item.

Came in at £25/m
