Hi Guys,
I recently had a SB600 stolen, and while I knew it was covered on the house insurance I didnt realise we would lose out no claims and I would have to front so much of the cash, so I ended up just buying a replacement myself.

So.. Camera Equipment Insurance, who do you guys reccommend?

Thanks for your help

I just got mine at Barclays today. £17 p/m, covers my mac and camera (above £500 items) and the rest is covered no matter what, as they are under £500). I think its starts at £7 a month if everything is under £500, but don't quote me on that.

Does this seem like a lot? Im curious to know, as I have about 2 weeks before first payment goes in. I had a look at other paces online, and they had so many get out clauses in the fine print, it was unreal! Don't trust that.

I would give aaduki a try. I recently got 10 grands of gear insured for £18 per month. The service from them is good aswell.

wow! They quotes me £4.81 a month for £2500's worth of gear.
Does it only cover use in this country though?
Have you ever had to make a claim?
Cheers

Hey Adam, you should check out the link below to aaduki, it says they are underwritten by Lloyds, so I think they may be charging you too much here!

Cheers

Im quite happy sticking with Barclays, have you guys even read the smallprint. I looked around before, and as usual, the cheap guys have get out clauses left right and centre, with lovely excess for you to pay if anything happens.
I dont fancy paying £150 for a claim. Besides, the deal I have covers everything I own

Insurance For The Image Maker
We at AADUKI provide a complete range of insurance services to image
makers and we aim to provide cover specifically tailored to the requirements of
you as an individual, offering a wide scope of cover and the best value for
money.
Under our policy that is underwritten at Lloyds we can insure your equipment
on an All Risks basis annually at your premises plus anywhere in the United
Kingdom (plus 60 days World Wide).
Further Covers
As we are a specialist insurance agency not tied to any one Underwriter, we
are able to arrange related insurance covers should you need them; including,
but not limited to,
Hired In Equipment, Mobile Telephone, Stock & Materials, Public Liability,
Employers’ Liability, Buildings, Office Contents, Professional Indemnity.
Key Scheme Features
Simplicity:
By covering your image making equipment with a specialist like ourselves we
know that a Tungsten Redhead is not necessarily the latest in hair fashion!! We
are therefore placed in a better position to issue documents that are specific to
image makers and easier for you to understand. We will issue a pre-completed
proposal form for you to check over, sign, date and return. We recognise that
insurance forms can appear daunting to those not used to filling out forms so
we offer this service to save you time
“New for Old”
If any property is lost or damaged by any of the insured “perils” the full cost of
repair or replacement will be paid (less the excess), providing of course that
appropriate sums insured have been declared by you on your policy. In this
respect you should note that it is possible to “mix” items for either new or
second hand replacement should you only wish to insure for second hand
rather than new replacement on some items.
Payment in Instalments
To help cash flow the cost of the premium can be spread over the policy year
by direct debit.

The Cover
Please note that the following explanation of the covers is only meant to give
an overview of the covers available and to assist you with the completion of the
proposal form. For definitive information on the covers available the complete
policy wording should be referred to and this is available upon request.
EQUIPMENT AT THE PREMISES:
Whilst your equipment is at your premises you can have peace of mind
knowing that as standard you will have cover for:

Fire, explosion, lightning, earthquake or smoke damage
Theft (including damage by thieves)
Storm or flood damage
Escape of water or oil from pipes or tanks
Malicious Damage
Accidental Damage

Please note: A £150 excess applies in respect of each claim.

EQUIPMENT AWAY FROM THE PREMISES:
This cover allows you to protect your equipment against accidental loss or
damage and theft when you are away from your premises.

Provided that you have shut all the windows in your vehicle and it has been left
securely locked with your equipment left out of sight (i.e. in the boot), the policy
will also cover your equipment up to a maximum of £10,000* if either your
vehicle is stolen or the equipment is stolen from the vehicle.

Please note: A £150 excess applies in respect of each claim except for
Theft losses from a vehicle not individually attended where the excess
will be 7.5% of each and every adjusted claim subject to a minimum of
£250.

* It is a requirement of the unattended vehicle cover that the vehicle is
protected by a factory fitted, or professionally installed vehicle alarm for
a sum insured in excess of £5000 to apply.
SECURITY
With crime increasing all the time, it is prudent not only to take out proper
insurance, but also to take all reasonable steps to prevent your belongings
from being stolen or vandalised.
The policy does contain some basic security requirements; we have found that
this helps to keep premiums low but also helps to prevent the disruption and
inconvenience that inevitably follows a burglary.
It is a requirement of the policy for “theft and/or attempted theft and/or
malicious damage” cover to be in place that the premises are protected by the
Minimum Physical Security Protections as shown below.
If your total sum insured exceeds £20,000 we ask that the premises are also
protected by an intruder alarm system that is fitted and maintained under an
annual maintenance contract with either a NACOSS or SSAIB approved
installer. We ask that the alarm system incorporates the REDCARE or
DIGICOM method of signalling to offer you the best alarm protection possible.
In order to allow enough time to comply with any security requirement, a
period would normally be allowed for the protections to be installed – talk
to us for details.
Minimum Physical Security Protections
Windows
All external basement, ground floor and other accessible (accessible means
adjacent to roofs, fire escapes, down spouts/drain pipes) windows fanlights or
skylights which are opening by design (originally constructed to open), must
be:
(a) secured with a key operated window lock or
(b) 10cm screw through the frame on the opening part of the
window into the frame
In the case of windows which are to be protected by solid steel or iron bars, the
bars are to be fixed securely to the brickwork or masonry surrounding the
window and are to be not less than 5cms in diameter and not more than 10cms
apart.
An allan key would be acceptable for window locks.
Doors
All external doors (and internal doors which lead to other parts of the building
which are not under the insured’s sole control) are to be secured with a five
lever mortice deadlock.
Patio doors to be fitted with supplementary bolts top and bottom (in addition to
the manufacturer’s lock/s) unless an alarm is required in which case an alarm
contact is to be in place on the patio door itself in addition to the required
physical protections.
Double glazed (and/or UPVC and Aluminium doors), to be secured with a five
lever mortice deadlock or locking systems where the lock engages with the
frame at more than one point (upon the operation of a single key or handle turn
and not independently of each other).
Double doors- on the first closing leaf, flush or barrel bolts at least 10cm long
top and bottom are to be fitted and on the second closing leaf, a five mortice
lever deadlock or a five lever close shackle padlock is to be fitted.
Five lever mortice deadlocks can be substituted for locks that conform to
BS3621.
Notes about security
A final exit door does not necessarily mean the front door only – it is both front
and back doors plus any other exit doors and in the case of flats/units within a
building complex it is regarded as the door leading into the individual flat/unit
and not any communal entrance exiting out of the building.

We at AADUKI............
I didnt go with AADUKI mate, I went with E&L

E&L I hope you read the small print - it pretty much allows them to get out of any claim, especially if you have their worthless in vehicle cover. If you search for E&L on here there are some nasty stories.

Photoguard is one that I can personally recommend - check out the reviews section for a review on their claims process.

Read them over mate, left right and centre, no obvious get out's as far as I can see, and no excess

read again - have a very :rules::rules::rules:close look at the car cover - they will never pay out...
if you can fold any of your rear seats or access the boot in anyway from the car it is not covered...
not estates not hatchbacks and very few cars with boot - as most have a fold down hatch for long items

for more info do a search for e&L on this forum

Barclays will not payout if you have ever sold a photo - i was refused holiday kit cover as my website sells photos...

best insurance by a mile is to keep your kit in your hand or on your back and never let it out of your sight

Thanks Simon, have you ever made a claim with photoguard?
